The lyrics show this by saying “I know a place where time stands still out in California, Where the stars come out and the music’s loud, Be anything you wanna be”, “Palm trees and jasmine, all your cares to the wind, Wake up in the mornin’, do it over again” and “We can take all night, ’til it hits just right, Baby, you won’t wanna leave, So, slip away with me, Sunset Marquis”. The electronic guitar, acoustic guitar, pedal steel guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, string arrangement and strings used in the song give it a disco country feel that supports the song’s theme of a late-night, high-energy gatherings at the Sunset Marquis hotel while blending modern country with retro flair.
Lambert said, “I’ve been staying at the Sunset Marquis for close to 20 years” … “Every time I’m there, you never know who you’re going to run into or what kind of memories you’re going to make.
