Self-proclaimed “kings of metal,” Trivium, bring The Crown In The Grave Tour to Terminal 5 on November 12th with support from In Flames, Fit for an Autopsy, and Frozen Soul.
Formed in 1999 in Orlando by singer and bassist Brad Lewter, guitarist Jarred Bonaparte, and drummer Travis Smith, Trivium got its name from their unique blend of metalcore, melodic death metal, and thrash metal, later adding guitarist (and eventual lead singer) Matt Heafy to the mix. In 2002, the band recorded their first demo which caught the attention of German record label, Lifeforce, with whom they released their debut album Ember to Inferno in 2003. Soon after, lead guitarist Cory Beaulieu and bassist Paolo Gregoletto (replacing Lewter) joined the band and they were signed by Roadrunner Records. In 2005, Trivium released their iconic sophomore album, Ascendancy, which debuted at No. 151 on the Billboard Hot 200 and No. 4 on their Top Heatseekers chart, as well as being named Album of the Year by Kerrang!. Praised for its thrilling dual-guitar parts, thundering double bass drum gallops, and soul-piercing throat-screams, Ascendancy set them on the path to becoming one of the defining metal bands of the 21st century.
Trivium has continued to release incredible albums throughout their career, including 2006’s clean-sung The Crusade, which debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, 2008’s Shogun (debuting at No. 23), and 2017’s The Sin and the Sentence, whose lead single, “Betrayer,” was nominated for a Grammy for Best Metal Performance. Now, nearly 30 years after their formation, the band has announced the upcoming The Crown In the Grave tour with new drummer Alex Rüdinger, which is reportedly in support of a new album of the same name releasing at some point this fall. Known for their intense and energetic live shows featuring spectacular pyrotechnics that match the ferocity of their technically precise playing and aggressive, headbang-worthy guitar riffs, the upcoming tour is sure to be a sight to see.
