The Los Angeles based project, Poolside, is bringing the Daytime Disco to Union Square in San Francisco, this September through Another Planet’s San Francisco Free Concerts. This will be Poolside’s second time putting on this Daytime Disco as a free event, and is in collaboration with the Union Square Alliance and the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department, taking place on September 20th.
Poolside, was started in a converted backyard pool house in Los Angeles in early 2011 by Jeffrey Paradise who wanted to create chill music for summer soirees. His goal was to create a light but danceable kind of music with sunny vibes and liquid rhythm that he named “Daytime Disco”. His music reflects the experimental and beachy vibes of his San Diego roots while including features of house music, disco, indie, and even jazz from his college experiences in San Francisco.
Along with Jeffrey Paradise who plays guitar / vocals / synths in live performances, his live band is made up of Vito Roccoforte (from The Rapture / Body Music) on drums, Mattie Safer (of The Rapture / Lovetempo) on bass / vocals, Casey Butler (from Pharaohs) on saxophone / lap steel / guitar / percussion / vocals, and Alton San Giovanni (of Alton Allen) on guitar / vocals / synths. The band’s makeup of seasoned musicians and performers makes it so that their signature “Daytime Disco” sound is able to come through fully. In addition to Poolside, this show will feature special guests that will be announced in the weeks to come.
