Little Image performed at the Mercury Lounge on Friday, May 8, 2026. The trio from Dallas, comprised of Jackson Simmons, Brandon Waters and Troy Bruner, is currently on their 16-city “Kill The Ghost Tour.” The Mercury Lounge was dominated with strobing lights for the band’s first three songs, “MR CYNICAL,” “NOVOCAINE” and “BLUE,” which was a crowd pleaser and got everyone moving. The band performed songs from their new album, Kill The Ghost, released on March 26. The visual elements, including a shadow figure driving and a glow-in-the-dark skeleton seen during their song “EGO,” set an eerie and interesting tone both before and during the performance.
A standout was a visual used during the song “ALWAYS ENDS” that featured a desktop in a field flashed on the circular screen behind them. The band was backlit for the majority of the 15-song set, making it difficult to see their faces but creating an immersive experience that encouraged the audience to focus on the music. The band took to the stage wearing merch that referenced their song “THE RABBIT.”
Little Image delivered a high-energy performance using every aspect of the venue, starting by walking through the crowd to the stage for their first song and later performing in the back of the venue using three keyboards during their song “OUT OF MY MIND.” The set flowed coherently, with one song melding seamlessly into the next. The band had a natural stage presence that showed they were in sync with each other in the live space. They hit their marks well on the song “DEFCON” using four flash lamps and EDM-influenced production.
LeKeep was the opening act. He started with the unreleased song “Holy Water” and went into another new song, “In Reverse,” that started as a ballad before turning into an electric guitar-led performance that blended well with the sound of Little Image.
The Mercury Lounge, with a capacity of 250 people, is known as a launching pad for up-and-coming artists and is where The Strokes first appeared. The venue is so intimate that every little sound can be heard, from the extra echo of the drums to the amplifiers being plugged in. The band announced to the audience that they needed to be off stage at 8:30 p.m. and out of the venue by 9 p.m., then invited fans to meet them outside after the show. Little Image has developed a strong fan base through the underground indie rock scene, helping them regularly fill nightclubs.
Blending the pop sensibility of 5 Seconds of Summer and Louis Tomlinson’s alternative indie edge, Little Image is a band worth seeing live on tour this spring. Their latest project, Kill The Ghost, is available now across all streaming platforms.
