MUNA hit the stage with passion, energy and intense enthusiasm at The Shrine on May 9th, 2026. This show was the second of a two-night album release series following the release of their fourth album, Dancing on the Wall. The band will set out on their full-length Gets So Hot Tour in the fall.
The band brought fun and loud music to their fans right off the bat. The show’s setlist started with their new album in order, allowing the audience to sing along to their favorite singles and enjoy fresh songs together. The band expressed gratitude immediately, thanking their fans for coming out and appreciating their new music together. Guitarist Naomi especially thanked everyone for getting tickets despite not knowing what most of the album would sound like. The freshly released music dynamic made the show a great mix of well-known hits and appreciation for the entire album.
The show kicked off with the first song, “It Gets So Hot,” which fans eagerly sang along to, followed by their title track, “Dancing on the Wall.” Lead singer Katie moved around the stage and felt the music, connecting to fans across the entire audience. The band members seemed ecstatic to perform alongside each other but especially happy to see their committed fanbase sing along.
Then, fans continued to appreciate MUNA’s new work with “Eastside Girls” and another one of the album’s singles, “Wannabeher.” These songs are extremely energetic, with everyone in the audience jumping and raising their hands along with the band. This progressed into two songs that were slightly more laid back and even emotional at times: “On Call” and “So What.” The artistic choice at the end of the latter stood out. The ending features a long instrumental and Katie sat on the stage, expressionless, as the camera captured her face on the screen. Fans connected with this and seemed to adore the visual choices the band made.
This transitioned into a crucial moment with the song “Big Stick.” The song features blunt political lyrics, which were yelled especially loudly by fans. After the song’s conclusion, the band spoke again in gratitude for their fans. Katie noted that MUNA has always been a political band and their fans’ support is a crucial example of how artists like them can reach high levels of success and have their voices heard. She also stated that she was grateful they could do a show that directly aligns with their album’s release, especially considering the fans already knew so many of the words after only twenty-four hours.
MUNA progressed through the rest of their album, rocking out to “Mary Jane,” “Girl’s Girl” and “Why Do I Get A Good Feeling.” The final song, “Buzzkill,” featured a final countdown on the screen behind them. It is one of the most emotional songs on the album and fans began to sway with their friends and appreciate the moment. Many were in tears together as they sang along to the lyrics.
At the end of the countdown, the three band members left the stage for a few moments. Fans chanted for their return and remained excited following the first part. MUNA excitedly returned to the stage, kicking off their remaining songs with “Stayaway.” Since they moved onto the portion with their hits, fans screamed the lyrics even louder. This energy remained with “What I Want” and “Number One Fan.”
Then, MUNA expressed that they would play a much older song, which was “Promise.” Katie joked that “some of them” knew it. “Anything But Me,” “One That Got Away” and “I Know A Place” made up more of their known songs. “Anything But Me” was especially exciting, as the band brought out a small blow-up horse to match their lyrics, “You’re gonna say that I’m on a high horse, I think that my horse is regular-sized.” Katie kicked it into the audience and it was passed around throughout the song, highlighting more of their fan community in the concert.
MUNA ended the night with their biggest hit, “Silk Chiffon.” It brought intensity and carefree fun, with fans jumping around together in the last moments. The band had a night of celebration, appreciation and most importantly pleasure. They are sure to experience even more nights like these as they embark on their next tour.
