Los Angeles, CA, 4 September 2026; The Hollywood Palladium felt less like a standard three-band gig and more like a curated mini-festival of shoegaze, space-rock, and Britpop royalty. A capacity crowd packed into the iconic venue for an ambitious lineup that delivered seamless atmospheric highs from start to finish.
Mercury Rev opened the evening with a dense, hypnotic set. Performing just three tracks; “There’s Always Been a Bird In Me,” “Patterns,” and “Holes”, the songs blended into one continuous, sprawling cosmic soundscape. The Dandy Warhols followed, sounding sharp and vibrant as they dialed into their trademark psych-pop groove. Anchored by heavy renditions of “Godless” and the euphoric closing blast of “Bohemian Like You,” their set proved why they remain top-drawer live performers.
When headliners The Charlatans took the stage, the energy inside the Palladium shifted into high gear. They kicked off their set with a blistering performance of “Weirdo,” setting an immediate, high-octane tempo that instantly hooked the room. The band navigated their extensive discography masterfully, leaning heavily into a crowd-pleasing greatest hits setlist, interweaving just three songs from their new album, including “Deeper and Deeper” and “We Are Love”.
Frontman Tim Burgess looked and sounded amazing, beaming broadly at the audience throughout the set, matching the joy radiating from the floor. Early highlights like “Then” sent nostalgic waves through the crowd, while the infectious groove of “Toothache” had the room moving in unison. Guitarist Mark Collins put in an absolute shift, fueling track after track with crisp, driving riffs that gave classic anthems like “Telling Stories” and “One To Another” incredible weight and punch.
The crowd’s enthusiasm peaked during the main set climax with “How High?”, sparking a massive full-venue singalong that echoed off the Palladium’s walls. Returning for an explosive three-song encore, the band brought the night home with “Many A Day A Heartache” before plunging into extended, psychedelic renditions of “The Only One I Know” and “Sproston Green,” cementing a triumphant performance from start to finish.
