Confined To Time brings soul-jolting death metal.
Cemetery Reign is a solo death metal endeavor that is performed by the dark and insane mind of David McMaster, who is the riff menace in Street Tombs and drum punisher in Superstition. In February, the artist dropped his album, Confined To Time, and as a whole, everything is fantastic by how each track smacks the background with a strong gut-punching vibe and ear-bleeding vocal performances. This album has straight up death metal that will cause some listeners to bang their heads, while the music blares from the speakers.
Kicking things off is “Escape Survival” and what is stunning about this composition is how the fast-paced and dynamic instrumentation creates a chaotic sound that matches the seriousness of the theme. Right at the start, powerful and surging guitar riffs welcome listeners with the feeling of endless madness as the drum playing contributes erratic beats that bring the fear of wanting to escape the frightening atmosphere. Although “Escape Survival” is musically short, there is enough skull-crushing to cause havoc.
“Spiral Eyes” is a heavier ditty and what truly shines is Reign’s dooming vocal performance. Throughout the whole number, the artist uses his deep and powerful voice to express what he is feeling in his heart and what is truly neat is how each deep vocal pitch creates a grumble that brings the danger and insecurity, while the instrumentation continues rage war in people’s minds. “Spiral Eyes” is an example of how powerful a lower vocal style can be when you have the right music to use.
“Infernal Punishment” is another heart stopper that shows how versatile Reign is as an artist. Right away, the blazing and in-your-face guitar playing brings a heavy mix of hard and death metal, while drum playing stays on a simple and effective tempo that matches the vein-jolting vibe. Also, the mesh of the lead and bass guitar gives “Infernal Punishment” a does of musical excitement as Rein commands the listeners with his dark and demanding vocal performance. This tune is filled with a lot of static, which makes the composition sound even more menacing.
Confined To Time is a very impressing album considering there is only one person running the entire show. This album further proves how effective one person can be when creativity allows you to musically grow on your own. Surely, Rein will be dazzling people’s minds with his music live on stage in the near future. Hopefully the artist will put our more music as well as the death metal isamazingly wonderful.
