English post-punk duo Sleafors Mods is coming to Brooklyn. Originally formed in 2007 the group became the duo we know and love in 2012 with the addition of instrumentalist Andrew Fearn. Front-man Jason Williams released four albums before Fearn joined, creating the Mods signature abrasive lyrics blended with gritty punk beats.
Their 13th album, and most recent, released on the 16th of this month was The Demise of Planet X. The title of the album is in reference to the Nibiru Cataclysm which proposes a collision between Earth and Nibiru/Planet X in the 21st Century. The album is a tour de force of satire, sharp, and poignant with collaborations with the likes of: Gwendolyn Christie, Sue Tompkins, and more. The lyrics of and beat of the album function like the two planets, seemingly always at odds, on the precipice of collision.
See the Sleaford Mods May 9th at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.
