Samuel Ervin Beam, better known as Iron & Wine, is coming to the Brooklyn Bowery. The American singer-songwriter started his career with the 2002 album The Creek Drank the Cradle. Beam wrote, produced, performed, and recorded the album solo in his home studio. His first full-length studio–recorded album was the 2004 release Our Endless Numbered Days. A notable hit from the album was “Naked as We Came,” which was featured in the 2004 film In Good Company. The song became synonymous with the mid-2000s folk-indie boom.
His 2007 album Shepherd’s Dog was both a commercial and critical success. With songs like “Boy with a Coin,” “The Devil Never Sleeps,” and “Flightless Bird, American Mouth,” Beam secured his spot in the mid-2000s lexicon of indie heartbreak. “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” was also used in the memorable prom scene in Twilight.
Iron & Wine will be accompanied by lo-fi rock artist Project Improvement Movement. The independent experimental band is known for pushing boundaries and its sharp criticisms of self-help culture. If Iron & Wine is emotionally raw and vulnerable, Improvement Movement is his foil.
Both will be performing on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. at the Brooklyn Bowery.
