Listening to the discography of Twin Shadow, versatility might be the word that best suits the Dominican-born American musician’s genre-free form. There are even qualities to Twin Shadow’s music and singing style that are quite reminiscent of the works of David Bowie – by combining various genre tropes, including pop, rock, house and theatrical musical. Truly, listening to his music has been quite a pleasurable allusion before attending his show.
Alternative and indie musician Twin Shadow, the stage name for George Williams Lewis Jr., delivered a personable and joyous performance at The Regent Theater on December 3rd, 2025. This performance in Los Angeles had multiple meanings for the musician, as it celebrated his 15-year-long career with his debut album Forget, as well as the release of his seventh studio album Cadet. It’s also commendable how Twin Shadow decided to host this show 2 weeks after the release of Cadet, illustrating the musician’s sincere desire to connect his music with his fans.

Twin Shadow’s performance was also an immersive illustration of his personable approach to his craft, emphasizing music as a shared experience regardless of its genre. And to further immerse the audience, the opening act for Twin Shadow was delivered by synth-pop solo artist Blackpaw. It was interesting to bring in a music group whose style heavily represented techno, EDM and synth. But it made perfect sense, considering Twin Shadow’s goal to immerse the audience despite its genre. Also, placing a silk sheet in front of the stage and interposing matrix-esque images along with Blackpaw’s underground synth music, was an astonishing audio-visual experience as a stand-alone opening act.
After Blackpaw’s intricate synth-pop performance, Twin Shadow and his original live band members appeared on the stage while wearing 70s & 80s stage outfits. After Twin Shadow expressed his deepest gratitude for the fans visiting his show, the night was opened with one of his most nostalgia-inducing hit songs, “Five Seconds.” With retro racing movie scenes playing in the backdrop, along with Twin Shadow’s refreshing vocals, the venue immediately turned into a ballroom dance floor for the audience to enjoy.

The night continued with Twin Shadow’s immense versatility while delivering a sensational experience for the fans. Some of the highlights included Twin Shadow’s intimate performance of dream pop songs “Tyrant Destroyed” and “Emily,” groovy-pop song “Tether Beat,” a joyous performance of his hit song “Saturdays” and ending the night with yet another performance of “Five Seconds” – and throwing up his guitar in the air after his last riff.

The show was truly joyous, especially by how Twin Shadow not only maintained his smiling demeanor while singing throughout the night, but also decided to explain each and every one of their song choices for the setlist to the audience (as well as sharing heartfelt and wholesome anecdotes regarding his original band members). Twin Shadow also chuckled along with the audience banter, making the night even more personable if not memorable for the fans – and all it took was Five Seconds.
