Grammy-nominated and Juno Award–winning singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright is playing at Café Carlyle. The tour is in support of his newest album Dream Requiem. He debuted this work at Auditorium de Radio France in Paris. The album is inspired by the Lord Byron poem “The Dream”; he was accompanied by soprano Anna Prohaska and narrated by Meryl Streep.

Café Carlyle has been a New York institution since its opening in 1995, hosting the likes of Eartha Kitt, Judy Collins, and at one time Woody Allen. Hand-painted murals dance across the walls by visionary French artist Marcel Vertès and will transport you to the European supper clubs of old. Don’t miss a night on the town on the Upper East Side with Rufus Wainwright December 9th through the 13th.

Wainwright’s music caught attention on the big screen. His rendition of “Hallelujah” was featured in the popular movie Shrek, and his original piece “The Maker Makes” from Brokeback Mountain won him a Genie Award. Immerse yourself in the orchestral sounds of Rufus Wainwright and enjoy an intimate evening at Café Carlyle.
