GWAR brings their mind-dazzling, imaginative production and music on The Return of Gor Gor.

Metal icons GWAR are known for their bombastic and mind-melting music. Back in ’22, the band released the album, The New Dark Ages, and now, GWAR has dropped their EP, The Return of Gor Gor. As a whole, the EP is rather unique. Not only is there new music, but listeners will have a chance to hear the band perform live. The Return of Gor Gor displays just how powerful GWAR is. Each track brings the in-your-face music the band is known for.

“The Great Circus Train Disaster” kicks things off with a bang because the ditty introduces listeners to GWAR’s non-stop chaotic world, where face-smacking guitar and drum playing dominate the atmosphere with a smashing and thunderous sound. The lead vocalist wails out the wacky lyrics with sheer vocal power. “The Great Circus Train Disaster” is fun to listen to, and surely, it will sound just as loveably crazy live.

The hard-hitting “Tyrant King” has a mix of face-smacking hard metal and punk music. Right off the bat, the vein-jolting instrumentation shakes the background with insanity before changing the tempo into soul-shaking punk. Also, the guitar solo toward the end of “Tyrant King” briefly brings an Iron Maiden vibe before everything ends on a melodic note. The ditty is by far the most amusing and fun taste of music on this EP. Plus, his composition is catchy and easy to sing along to.

The live composition “The Founding Fathers” is a funny ditty with a great meaning. While listening, the whole thing feels like a theater show as before the mayhem happens, each band member uses their acting and humor skills to display what they currently feel about politics. The skit is by far amusing by how the band tells a story about “The Founding Fathers.”  At this point, some listeners will be laughing and giggling while the skit is blaring from their speakers.

The last track on The Return of Gor Gor is the live version of Fish Fuck” and according to GWAR, this tune is about having and celebrating sex. Yes, this number is very dirty while very funny, and the music is fantastic. The musical tempo is fast-paced, bringing another earth-shattering and bootie-whooping hardcore punk and metal vibe. The erratic guitar and drum playing generates ear-bleeding musical noises that can cause some people to headbang as Fish Fuck” is hitting their souls.

GWAR has always been a dynamic band that is not afraid to add wild humor and stories into the blazing music. The Return of Gor Gor sees the band returning to successfully rage war with those who are willing to listen.
