The 25th anniversary of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass begins with a celebration as timeless as the festival itself. On Thursday, October 2, The Masonic in San Francisco will host A Tribute to Emmylou Harris & 25 Years of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, a special evening paying homage to the artist who has graced the festival’s stage every single year since its inception.
The tribute concert brings together an extraordinary lineup of friends, collaborators, and fellow icons: Allison Russell, Albert Lee, Margo Price, Patty Griffin, Rodney Crowell, Rosanne Cash, Sam Bush, Shawn Colvin, and Steve Earle are all slated to perform. Buddy Miller will serve as musical director, leading The Red Hot Dirt Ramblers and a backing band composed of Harris’s longtime musical companions.
More than a tribute, the event doubles as a benefit for Bonaparte’s Retreat, the dog rescue organization founded by Harris. Every ticket sold supports this foster-based nonprofit dedicated to giving senior and shelter dogs a second chance.
This intimate night at The Masonic sets the stage for the larger festival unfolding October 3–5 in Golden Gate Park, a free celebration of American music in all its forms.
Tickets go on sale May 22 at hardlystrictlybluegrass.com.
