Lonely People With Power brings mind-bending music from Deafheaven.
Metal band Deafheaven is known for its loud and creative music. In 2021, the band released the album Infinite Granite, and now, Deafheaven is back with their powerful record, Lonely People With Power. What is great about the whole thing is how the band can still create dynamic music that can shake people’s souls with amazing sounds and lyrics.
The track “Doberman” is a great example of how powerful they are with their music. The vein-jolting instrumentation smacks the background with pure harmonic metal and rock music, while the vocalist passionately shrieks out the lyrics with great emotion. After the creepy but lovely opening song “Incidental I,” “Doberman” gives the audience a taste of how much Deafheaven has grown as a band.
“The Garden Route” is a composition that differs from the previous number in that the band plays on a lower musical tempo. While listening, the sound of the guitar and drum playing brings a sentimental feeling of hope and despair, while the vocalist continues to show his strong and dominant vocal performance. This ditty has emotional music and lyrics some people can relate to if they are willing to listen.
“Revelator” is a killer track that shows the hard-hitting metal side of Deafheaven. As a whole, the song is a mix of classic and hard metal thanks to the chaotic instrumentation creating a catchy head-banging vibe and the best part is hearing the vocalist powerfully and masterly shriek and rumble out the deep lyrics. For those who enjoy blistering and smashing music, “Revelator” can surely shake the souls of those listening.
“The Marvelous Orange Tree” closes Lonely People With Power on a high note but in a different way. As a whole, the instrumentation is more harmonic and melodic, which is great because each guitar riff and drum beat contributes to the high emotions that are constantly lingering around. Also, the vocalist sharing his heartfelt pain and emotions gives “The Marvelous Orange Tree” an extra kick of a human connection most of us can relate to.
Deafheaven shows their mighty talent in Lonely People With Power and when the band performs each song live, the music will sound just as intoxicating and thrilling onstage.
