Gruffudd Maredudd Bowen Rhys, the Welsch musician, composer, producer, and author is coming to New York. Back in 2014, Rhys released his album, American Interior, which was the soundtrack to his documentary trying to retrace the steps of distant Rhys relative and explorer John Evans, who traveled through North America in the 1790s trying to locate a lost tribe of Welsh-speaking natives. 10 years later, following the anniversary of the album and documentary, a little over 10 years now, Rhys has decided to tour the US and Canada. According to Brooklyn Vegan, the shows will be a mix of songs and a power-point presentation about John Evans (who in the film and artwork is played by a puppet). Rhys is currently setting off on his UK portion of the tour, which starts tomorrow, where he’ll play at The Good Place Festival for 3 days. Once he makes his way back from Europe, Rhys’ first US show of the tour will be at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC on April 9th. Tour will continue on till May, circling back and finishing off the tour in the UK. Tickets to the Wednesday night show on April 9th in New York City are still on sale, and selling for as cheap as $27 USD. for a standing ticket.
