Fierce, groovy, and begs to turn it Louder, Please.
Louder, Please is Rose Gray’s debut album, a 12-track LP that blends catchy pop chord progressions with gritty, electronic dance music. Gray’s inspiration from multiple genres is evident, with each track offering something different through the electronic music lens. Bouncy sound design and atmospheric pads are a common theme in over half the album, similar to Piano House. At the same time, the remaining tracks possess unique flair.
The album’s opening track, “Damn,” is faster, harsher and in your face. The drums and wubz in the tune “First” steer away from a typical house 4-on-the-floor groove and give the listener something fresh for their palette instead. “Tectonic” taps into a softer sound found in deep house. The album’s title track, “Louder Please,” is experimental and edgy, the perfect way to close the album.
An album standout, “Angel Of Satisfaction,” is the halfway point and the most intriguing song on the lineup. Orchestral violins and horns, uplifting chord progressions, vocals soaked in reverb, and a groovy bass line create a push-and-pull in the track not found anywhere else on the album, making for a grand listening experience.
With Louder, Please. Gray checks all the boxes for a groovy, upbeat electro-pop album with a few surprises in store!
