Folk-rock duo The Swell Season is taking on a World tour in 2025. They will make a pit stop in Chicago for a performance at the Auditorium Theatre on Jul. 18, 2025. 

Irish musician Glen Hansard and Czech singer and pianist Markéta Irglová formed The Swell Season. Together, they released their first album in 2006, self-titled, The Swell Season. The duo rose to fame after the success of the film Once, in which the duo portrayed a dramatized version of their work together. 

The duo wrote the song “Falling Slowly” for the film which ended up winning an Oscar during that award season. After the rise of their music, a documentary was filmed about them from 2007-2010. All the while, they are putting together and releasing their second studio album, Strict Joy, which was released in 2009. 

The band appears to have stopped making music after 2009. Until recently, no studio album, single, or EP had been produced and released by The Swell Season. Then, in 2023, the duo released their single “The Answer Is Yes” and this year, announced their world tour. 

The Swell Season will perform at the Auditorium Theatre on Jul.18, 2025. Tickets are available for pre-sale purchase through Bandsintown.com.
