Early 2000s anti-folk, indie singer/songwriter Regina Spektor is set to go on tour with a three-night show in Chicago. The performance will be held at Thalia Hall from Mar. 2-4. This tour is in celebration of her latest album, Songs(2024).
Regina Spektor, a Russian-born singer and songwriter, got her start experimenting with music very early on in her life. She was born into a musical family, with her father being a violinist and her mother being a music professor. Spektor began to play the piano at a young age and has become an aficionado of the instrument.
Before being signed to a record label, she self-produced three albums, which gained major popularity in the New York City indie scene. She then signed with a label in 2004, which allowed her to gain commercial recognition. She re-released her third album, Soviet Kitsch, with the record label during the same year.
Her first album, 11:11 (2001), although not as mainstream as her other albums, got her the recognition she needed to pursue professional singing. In 2006, she released her fourth studio album, Being To Hope, which still reigns today as her most popular album.
Altogether, Spektor has released nine studio albums, 18 singles, and two EPs. She has been featured on many different projects, including writing and singing a song for the Original Motion Picture Kubo and the Two Strings.
