One of the most influential rock bands of the 1970s and 80s, AC/DC, is going on its first North American Tour in nine years. Their second-to-last stop will be Chicago, for a performance at Soldier Field on May 24, 2025. The opener and special guest The Pretty Reckless will join them.
AC/DC was formed in 1973 in Sydney, Australia, by lead guitarist Angus Young, rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, drummer Colin Burgess, bassist Larry Van Kriedt, and lead vocalist Dave Evans. The band went through several member changes, and as of today, Angus is the only remaining original member. The band now includes Phil Rudd on drums, Cliff Williams on bass, Brian Johnson on lead vocals, and Stevie Young on rhythm guitar.
Their first studio album, High Voltage, was released in 1976. After that, they began releasing album after album consecutively. 1979 is when the band got their biggest break with the release of their seminal classic album, Highway to Hell which was followed by Back to Black (1980). Back to Black quickly became the second-best-selling album of all time behind Michael Jackon’s Thriller.
The band has made tremendous strides in the music industry and is considered to be classic rock. They have released a total of 18 studio albums, with their most recent one having been released in 2020, one EP and two singles. They have also worked with numerous artists including Slash and Steven Tyler.
For the first time in nine years, AC/DC is taking on a North American Tour in 2025. They will be making a pit stop for a performance in Chicago at Solider Field on May 24, 2024. They will be joined by The Pretty Reckless. Tickets will be available to purchase on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024.
