The Hu, Mongolia’s leading rock sensation, has once again made waves with their innovative sound, this time by paying homage to heavy metal legends Iron Maiden. In celebration of joining Iron Maiden on their “Future Past” North American arena tour, The Hu has released a cover of the iconic track “The Trooper.”
Founding member and throat singer Gala expressed the band’s excitement, stating, “The Hu is thrilled to be on Iron Maiden’s Future Past Tour in North America. For us, this tour represents an important milestone for the Mongolian music industry and a historical step towards the world stage. As a special thank you, and out of huge respect as fans of the band, we covered their legendary song ‘The Trooper’ and are happy to be sharing that with you ahead of this tour!”
“The Trooper” by Iron Maiden is widely regarded as one of the most powerful and recognizable tracks in heavy metal history. The Hu takes this classic and transforms it into something both familiar and refreshingly original. Using their signature blend of throat singing, traditional Mongolian instruments like the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle), and electric guitars, the band infuses the song with their ‘Hunnu Rock’ style. The accompanying music video features the band’s electrifying performance of the song. With a black and white filter, the band is seen performing the song with an intense passion matching the raw energy of the track.
The Hu continue to rise as global rock icons. With over 830 million all-time streams, #1 charting albums, and numerous sold-out headlining tours worldwide, the band has brought Mongolian music to the forefront of the rock scene. Their groundbreaking performances, including a debut set at the Glastonbury Festival in 2023, have earned them accolades from Billboard, NPR, GQ, and many more. In addition to their tour with Iron Maiden, The Hu will also perform a series of headlining shows with special guest The Funeral Portrait.
