Madrid-based indie duo Hinds, composed of Carlotta Cosials and Ana Perrote, have just dropped a brand-new bonus track, “Bats,” off their latest album Viva Hinds. Following their latest single release “Stranger”, this new track is a blend of English and Spanish along with their distinctive indie-punk sound.
Inspired by the 2020 film Another Round (Druk), “Bats” is all about tangoing with your inner demons. The band explains that the song’s energy is meant to mirror the final scene of the film, where Mads Mikkelsen dances freely, letting go of everything as he jumps fully clothed into the water. Sung in both Spanish and English, the song harmonizes the two languages to add to the dream-like melody of the track. It mixes indie rock with Hinds’ signature summer lo-fi style. The guitar riff is catchy, creating a perfect complement to the duo’s raw, addictive vocals. There’s an almost hypnotic allure to the melody, pulling you into a hypnotic daze of freedom and release.
