Cursive, an American Indie rock band from Omaha, Nebraska is coming to New York this November. The band consists of Tim Kasher on guitar, Matt Magnin on bass, Ted Stevens on guitar, and Cully Symington on drums. The three guitarists have been in the band since 1999, while Symington most recently joined in 2009. The bands’ most recent album, Devourer, was released on September 13th, and seems to be a balance between hard and soft. According to an interview with New Noise Magazine, Kasher said the album originally consisted of 69 songs and was snipped down to 13. Kasher mentioned that writing an album during the pandemic allowed him to go for walks and really take in all of the bands’ catalog, which brought a lot of introspection to the idea that Cursive isn’t necessarily a ‘heavy band’. Kasher said, “This record, I like to think, gets back to being a little bit more eclectic the way our older records were, which had more peaks and valleys of as far as what we were writing, as far as the approach in the aggression.” The band has not only come a long way, but has also evolved with the emergence of this new album. Their tour is set to take off in their home base of Omaha, on October 18th. Tickets to the New York show at the Bowery Ballroom are still on sale, and selling for $39.50 USD.
