As part of their upcoming DANSE MACABRE – DE LUXE release, Duran Duran has gifted fans with an exciting new take on their classic song “New Moon on Monday,” now reimagined as “New Moon (Dark Phase).” As a precursor to their recently announced short North American East Coast tour, this new track marks a much-anticipated reunion with their former guitarist Andy Taylor, adding a layer of nostalgia and new energy to this thrilling rendition.
“New Moon (Dark Phase)” carries a moody, atmospheric feel that contrasts with the upbeat, new wave original from Seven and the Ragged Tiger. Duran Duran’s signature synths are present, but this version leans into the eerie themes that the DANSE MACABRE album is known for. The haunting arrangement perfectly complements the darker lyrical themes, providing an intense backdrop for Simon Le Bon’s iconic vocals. It’s a mesmerizing blend of 80s nostalgia and modern-day sensibilities, tapping into the same Halloween-inspired vibe that has made Danse Macabre a fan favorite. Andy Taylor’s return is the highlight, bringing his unmistakable guitar work back to the band’s sound.
Fans of Duran Duran have even more to look forward to this Halloween season. The band will be performing at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 31st, as part of their annual Danse Macabre Halloween Party. This show, which has become a highly anticipated tradition, celebrates the dark and theatrical themes of their album with live performances of fan favorites, reimagined classics, and eerie covers.
