Missy Elliot is a singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer. She is renowned in the music industry and has been making music and performing since the 1990s when she was part of a group by the name of Sistas which was based in the R&B genre.
She got her big break in 1997 with the release of her first solo album, Supa Dupa Fly. Since then she has released six albums, two EPs, and 21 singles including music for the films The Greatest Showman and most recently The Color Purple.
Elliot has had an incredible career. Her accolades are innumerable. Not only does she have four Grammys, but she has also sold 40 million records worldwide making her the best-selling female rapper according to Billboard. She received the MTV VMA Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and in 2020, Billboard ranked her at Number 5 on their list of the greatest music video artists of all time. On top of all of that, she was the first female rapper to be included in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
