KMFDM, a multinational industrial rock band from Hamburg, was founded in 1984 as a performance art project. Members Sascha Konietko, Lucia Cifarelli, Andy Selway, and Andee Blacksugar have worked with many other musicians over their time as a group. They’ve had twenty-two studio albums and over two dozen singles. Their most recent album Let Go, was released in 2024 and offers a pop influence, compared to their usual metal sound. Konietko’s roles include songwriter, producer, mixer, programmer, sampler, vocalist, percussionist, bassist, and electronic gadgeteer. According to Spotify, KMFDM stands for “Kein Mitleid für die Mehrheit” and can be translated as “No Pity for the Majority”. The band relocated to the US in the early 90’s and hit the Billboard Dance charts with hits like “Naive” and “Vogue”. Their tour is set to start in Milwaukee on October 16th and is in celebration of 40 years of the ‘ultra heavy beat’.
