With their ninth studio album on the verge of release on Oct. 11, Dawes has announced their Oh Brother Tour. This North American tour kicks off on Aug. 2 at Salmonfest in Ninilchik, AK, and finds its way to Chicago on Nov.16 at the Salt Shed.
Dawes is a band of brothers. Literally. The band consists of two members, Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, who got their start in Los Angeles, CA. Taylor is on vocals and guitar while Griffin is on drums. Their sound falls under the category of Laurel Canyon.
They have taken influence from Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Joni Mitchell, and others of a similar caliber.
When the band started, they were more of a rock-indie band. They have since migrated into a folk-indie sound. With their long career, they have found solid ground in the sound that they want to put forth.
Their most recent album, Stories Don’t End, before this upcoming one, was released back in 2022. Their album cover is reminiscent of many Joni Mitchell covers as it appears to be sketched.
Their 2024 album, Oh Brother, is the first of nine albums that will feature of picture of Taylor and Griffin.
