Sigur Rós at The Met Philadelphia on September 23rd

Icelandic rock band Sigur Rós is traveling to the U.S. for an Orchestral Tour and performing at The Met in Philadelphia on September 23rd with the accompaniment of the New York City-based Wordless Music Orchestra.

Sigur Ros formed in 1994 and quickly became known for the unique ambience in their instrumental-heavy tracks, often including orchestral sounds. Their second studio album, Ágætis byrjun (1999), put the band on the map both critically and commercially, topping the charts locally within Iceland, and finding its footing in an international fanbase. The album would go on to be considered one of the best albums of the 2000s.

On tour, the group will largely be performing songs from their eighth studio album, Átta (which aptly translates to “Eight” in English), which was released in 2023. The album came as a surprise to some fans, as it was the group’s first studio album release in ten years, their previous album titled Kveikur had been released back in 2013. This tour is an extension of the group’s 2023 tour, adding all new cities to their lineup, so this is a show you do not want to miss! Tickets are available HERE.
