Indie rock band The Go! Team is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut studio album Thunder, Lightning, Strike on their tour starting in September. The band will perform in only nine cities, and Philadelphia is one of the few lucky hosts with a concert at The Foundry November 2nd!
The Go! Team formed in 2000, originally as lead member Ian Parton’s solo project, but would grow over time to a six-person group. The band released Thunder, Lightning, Strike in 2004 and the album was met with critical acclaim from numerous music publications and a lot of positive attention – even to the surprise of the band. In fact, the band had to rework much of the music on their initial album to avoid legal issues with some of the samples. Following its 2005 nomination for a Mercury Prize, a U.K. music award, the group would release the “legal” version of the album, which would quickly find its way onto U.K. music charts.
On tour, the group will be performing Thunder, Lightning, Strike in full, allowing fans to listen to many of their favorite classics including “The Power Is On,” which was considered by many to be one of the best singles of 2004. The band will also be joined by La Sécurité, a French-Canadian art-punk band who released a remix album of their debut studio album Stay Safe! earlier this year.
The show will be a fun, energetic night of experimental music – and Philly is one of the few places where you could experience it! You can get your tickets HERE.
