Singer, musician, and most-awarded-female-rapper-of-all-time Lauryn Hill is going on tour, bringing along her fellow members of rap trio Fugees to continue last year’s celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. This iconic tour is coming to the Mann Center in Philadelphia on August 21st.
Starting in 1990 (and prior to her solo debut), Lauryn Hill along with other famous rappers Wyclef Jean and Pras Michael, performed as the legendary trio Fugees. Considered one of the best rap groups of all time, the group would release two studio albums before they would break up. In fact, this upcoming tour will be only their second since the break up, making it a thrilling reunion for fans and critics. The Score, the group’s second album, containing hits including “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready Or Not” would be a number-one charting success during the 90s, even being nominated for album of the year in 1997.
Hill’s debut, and only, studio album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, would permanently change the world of R&B music following its 1998 release. Hits off of the album including “Doo Wop (That Thing)” and “Ex-Factor” – all of which live on as timeless hits, and Hill would not only sell out her debut solo tour, but would be highly awarded for the album. The album would be nominated for 10 Grammy Awards the year following its release, winning five of them, and more recently, the album was awarded the number one spot on Apple Music’s recent 100 best albums of all time list.
This concert is literally a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see these incredible musicians perform together and individually. Tickets for the show are available HERE.
