Adrianne Lenker at Union Transfer on November 25th & 26th

Singer-songwriter Adrianne Lenker released a new single “Sadness as a Gift” earlier this year, and with that announced her international tour, coming to Union Transfer in Philadelphia for two nights: November 25th and 26th.

Outside of her career as the lead vocalist of indie band Big Thief, Lenker has had an extensive solo career beginning long before her band work. Lenker released her debut studio album, Stages of the Sun, at age 14, and would not release anything else for another eight years before returning to the music scene with her second studio album, Hours Were the Birds. Her third album, Abysskiss, was her first to gain a wider audience and attention from critics, all with overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Following Abyskiss, Lenker’s next release would be more unexpected. Starting during the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Lenker recorded two studio albums in a much rawer, more unproduced format than her previous work and released them together. Songs and Instrumentals would be Lenker’s most successful works yet, many considering both albums to be two of the 50 best albums of 2020. The single “Anything” off of the albums, which was released prior to the full album release, would receive high acclaim and would go on to gain TikTok virality early this year.

On her tour, fans can expect Lenker to perform many songs from her most recent album release earlier this year, Bright Future. Lenker released two songs off of the album as singles prior to the full release, “Ruined”, the lead single on the album, towards the end of 2023, and “Sadness as a Gift”, released earlier this year with the tour announcement. The tour will also be opened by performances from indie-folk singer-songwriter Suzanne Vallie.

Tickets are available HERE for the first night (November 25th)  and HERE for the second (November 26th).
