Cage the Elephant at The Mann on September 6th

Earlier this month, American rock band Cage the Elephant released its album Neon Pill, and now the Neon Pill Tour is coming to Philadelphia at the TD Pavilion on September 6th.

Formed in 2006, the band released their debut self-titled album, Cage The Elephant, in 2008. Their following release, the 2010 single “Shake Me Down” was a teaser for their second studio album, Thank You, Happy Birthday, and the single charted at number one in rock songs for multiple weeks following the full release of the album in early 2011. The album itself would also become the band’s highest charting album, although their success was just beginning.

In 2013, the band released their third studio album, which would quickly become their most streamed. With great songs from start to finish, Melophobia, which means fear of music, is ironically a fearless album of excellent modern rock music and includes songs such as “Come a Little Closer,” which would dominate the alternative rock charts, and “Cigarette Daydreams” which would have similar performance on the charts, as well as regain popularity in 2021 when it became a viral TikTok audio.

On this tour, the band will be largely performing songs off of the band’s newest and sixth studio album, Neon Pill. The album, specifically through its lyrics, demonstrates a much more serious side of the band than in their previous work, with many discussions of mental health struggles throughout the songs, and equally hard hitting and perfectly accompanying instrumentals.

The tour will be opened by two performers: American rock band Young the Giant known for hits including “Mind Over Matter” and “Cough Syrup,” and English indie singer Bakar, whose 2019 song “Hell n Back” has over 500 million streams on Spotify, and most recently released a 2023 rendition with a feature from R&B singer Summer Walker.

This show is certain to be an unforgettable night. Make sure to get your tickets HERE.
