Johnny Marr & James @ Franklin Music Hall on Oct. 11

One of rock music’s greats, Johnny Marr, is back in concert and coming to Philadelphia on October 11th to perform at the Franklin Music Hall.

The guitarist, singer and songwriter first became famous in the 1980s as the guitarist and co-songwriter of The Smiths. He has since performed with numerous other bands, including The The in the 80s and 90s and the alternative rock band Modest Mouse in the 2000s, before embarking on a solo career in the 2010s with the release of The Messenger in 2013, his first solo album.

Since The Messenger, Marr has released three more albums as a solo artist (as well as Adrenalin Baby – Johnny Marr Live, a live version of his first two studio albums). Most recently, Marr released Spirit Power: The Best of Johnny Marr, a compilation album including his most popular tracks from past works plus two new songs: ‘Somewhere’ and ‘The Answer’

This concert is definitely not to be missed — one of the things that is certain to make it particularly unique is that his concerts attract multiple generations of fans and rock music listeners. His appeal to such a wide audience is a further sign of his depth as a singer and songwriter – and as a legend in the rock community.

The show will be opened by English rock band James, a group that gained popularity in the 1990s with hits such as “Laid” and “Come Home.” The combination of these two performers will make for a memorable night.
