Singer-songwriter, Santigold, has announced a long awaited set of live dates following her 2022 album, Spirituals! She will kick of the tour with a stop in San Francisco at The Midway on June 27.
Santi White, professionally known as Santigold, is an American singer-songwriter and producer from Philadelphia. Santigold got her start in music as the vocalist in the punk band Stiffed. The group would release one EP and one album that attracted London based independent record-label, Lizard King Records. The label would offer White a solo deal thus beginning Santigold’s solo career.
Santigold’s debut singles and debut album, Santogold, garnered positive critical reception landing her spots opening for acts like M.I.A, Bjork, and the Beastie Boys. Following a solo tour of the album, she supported Kanye West and Jay-Z at a number of their shows. The follow-up to Santogold, Master of My Make-Believe, was released in April 2012.
Santigold has since released an additional two albums, 99¢, released in 2016 and Spirituals, released in 2022. Santigold cancelled the Spirituals Tour soon after the album’s release, citing the poor treatment of artists in the music industry. This upcoming tour is her first set of live dates since then.
