Jeff Lynne’s ELO, formerly known as Electric Light Orchestra, are best know for hits like “Mr. Blue Sky” and “Don’t Bring Me Down.” The band first formed in 1970 and are best known for their lineup consisting of lead vocalist Jeff Lynne, keyboardist Richard Tandy, guitarist Roy Wood, and drummer Bev Bevan. Having gone through a number of lineup changes and rebrands over the last half century, Lynne and Tandy now make up Jeff Lynne’s ELO.
During the band’s first run from 1970-1983, ELO released ten studio albums, including the career defining Out of the Blue, which is credited as one of the first pop albums to extensively feature a vocoder. The group would disband and briefly reform as ELO and create side project, The Orchestra. ELO would reform a number of times during the 2000s before eventually becoming Jeff Lynne’s ELO in 2014. During their inconsistent years, the band released three studio albums and would release their first album in 14 years with Alone in the Universe as Jeff Lynne’s ELO in 2015.
