Glen Hansard is coming to Philly! Glen Hansard is an Irish singer songwriter whose career started at 13 when he quit school to begin busking in Dublin streets. He eventually went on to be the frontman for the Irish rock band The Frames. He released 6 albums with them, and was briefly part of rock duo The Swell Season before releasing his first debut album, Rhythm and Repose in 2012. He went on to have a successful solo career, with his second album, Didn’t He Ramble being nominated for a Grammy for Best Folk Album. As well as being a musician, he is also an actor, starring in the Irish music drama Once (2007) which earned him a number of major awards, including the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Falling Slowly” with co-writer and co-star Markéta Irglová. The film was later adapted into a musical theater production. The musical went on to win the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.
Hansard has continued his solo music career, with releases as recent as October 2023 with his 5th studio album All That Was East is West of Me Now. Hansard is going on tour to celebrate this album, from Europe to the US. Catch him in Philly on September 7th and 9th at Wells Fargo Center supporting Pearl Jam!
