Pulp at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on September 16

English rock band, Pulp have announced the This Is What We Do For An Encore Tour, a set of North American shows in September! They will be making a stop in San Francisco at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on September 16.

Pulp formed in Sheffield, England in 1978. They are lead vocalist Jarvis Cocker, keyboardist Candida Doyle, drummer Nick Banks, and guitarist Mark Webber. The band spent their early years making waves in the Sheffield local scene, releasing their debut album, It, in 1982. The following years were spent switching directions as individual band members came and went and Pulp put out a number of releases with varying styles under Fire Records.

The band saw their greatest success during the 1990s, releasing four albums, including their monumental breakthrough record, Different Class, in 1995. Tensions in the band would rise following their decade of stardom, ultimately leading to the release of their seventh and most recent album, We Love Life, in 2001. The band would break-up soon after, going on hiatus from 2002-2011.

Pulp reunited from 2011-2013, playing a number of festivals and going on an expansive European and Australian tour. Their first two albums were reissued during that time but no new music was released. A decade later, Pulp once again announced a reunion in the form of some 2023 tour dates a most recently, this 2024 North American tour.
