Alternative rock powerhouse, Weezer, have announced The Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour in celebration of 30 years of The Blue Album! They will be making a stop at the Chase Center on October 9.
Weezer formed in 1992 in Los Angeles. They are lead vocalist Rivers Cuomo, drummer Patrick Wilson, guitarist Brian Bell, and bassist Scott Shriner. Across their 30 year long career they’ve produced fifteen studio albums and created hits like “Say It Ain’t So,” “Buddy Holly,” and “Island in the Sun.”
The group’s debut self-titled album, frequently referred to as The Blue Album, is often cited as one of the greatest albums of all time, and a hallmark of 90s rock music. The project catapulted Weezer into the music mainstream and is the defining piece of their legacy today. The follow-up to the group’s debut was the darker and subversive, Pinkerton, which was mildly received upon release but has since been deemed as a classic on par with the debut. Beyond The Blue Album and Pinkerton, Weezer have experimented with a number of other genres throughout their career and are notorious for not taking themselves too seriously.
The band’s most recent project came in the form of a series of EP released throughout 2022 based on the four seasons. This upcoming tour will see the band play though The Blue Album in full as well as Weezer’s greatest hits and most beloved deep cuts.
