Weezer is coming to Philly! Weezer is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1992. The band is made up of members Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Patrick Wilson (drums, backing vocals), Brian Bell (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and Scott Shriner (bass guitar, keyboards, backing vocals). Weezer released their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, also known as the Blue Album, in May 1994. The Blue Album became a multi platinum success, including singles “Buddy Holly”, “Undone – The Sweater Song”, and “Say It Ain’t So.” Weezer has had a successful career and many impressive accolades, having multiple Grammy nominations and one Grammy win for Best Music Video for “Pork and Beans” in 2009. They have also received 5 wins from 8 nominations from the MTV Video Music Awards.
To pay homage to their first debut album, Weezer is going on their Voyage to the Blue Planet Tour with the Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. in which they’ll be playing the Blue Album in full, since the 30th anniversary of the album is coming up in May. Starting in September and ending in October, they’ll be going across North America. You can catch them in Philly at the Wells Fargo Center on September 13th!
