Sigur Rós at The Met on September 23rd

 

Sigur Rós is coming to Philly! Sigur Rós is an Icelandic post-rock band formed in Reykjavík in 1994. The band consists of Jón Þór “Jónsi” Birgisson (vocals, guitar), Georg Hólm (bass), and Orri Páll Dýrason (drums). Jónsi’s vocals are sung in Icelandic and non-linguistic vocalisations the band terms Vonlenska. Over the years, they have become celebrated for their atmospheric music, evoking a sense of otherworldly beauty and emotion. Sigur Rós gained international acclaim with their breakthrough second studio album, Ágætis byrjun, released in 1999. Subsequent releases such as ( ) and Takk… further solidified Sigur Rós’s reputation for pushing artistic boundaries and creating immersive sonic experiences.
