Album Review: Ghoul – Noxious Concoctions EP

A murderous musical journey

Metal band Ghoul have been raising mayhem since 2001 and earlier this month the band released the EP; Noxious Concoctions. Although the EP only has five songs, each track is filled with face-smacking instrumentation and wild vocal performances that match the horrific metal vibe on Noxious Concoctions

Kicking things off is “The Eyes of the Witch” and what is fabulous about this composition is the narration at the very beginning, building up the hype before Ghoul blasts the background with their maddening musical skills. “The Eyes of the Witch” is a straight-up headbanger that is filled with horrifying music.

“Shotgun Glitch” is a vein jolter thanks to the dynamic vocal performance. While listening, the vocalist does a great job mixing his vocal tones to match the musical energy that is being played. Each high and low pitch growl brings a sense of insecurity on “Shotgun Glitch” as well. The singer’s vocal style brings a sense of frightening insecurity on this tune.

“!-900-Dth-Lne” ends things on a high note, the instrumentation brings a classic Iron Maiden vibe laced in a dark atmosphere. Other than the killer vocal performance, the guitar playing sizzles with classic guitar notes that resemble Maiden’s music while the drum playing shakes the background with thunderous beats. “!-900-Dth-Lne” is an ultra creepy song that has killer music.
