Sophie Ellis-Bextor is making her way to Philly this summer! The English singer-songwriter has seen a new resurgence in popularity after 2023 film Saltburn used her 2001 song “Murder on the Dancefloor” in the last scene of the film, peaking at #2 on the UK charts and having its first entry into the U.S. charts at #51.
Ellis-Bextor entered the music scene in the late 1990s as the lead singer of indie rock group Theaudience. After going solo she gained success, creating music that can be categorized as pop and nu-disco. She made her solo debut with album Read My Lips, which featured the now notorious track “Murder on the Dancefloor.”
Ellis-Bextor has not stopped making music since her solo debut, releasing seventh studio album Hana as recently as June 2nd, 2023. Following the resurgence of “Murder on the Dancefloor” Ellis-Bextor reportedly signed with Universal Music Group and is working on a new album. She is currently on tour, mostly throughout Europe with 6 U.S. shows and one Canadian show in Toronto. Catch her in Philly on June 5th at Union Transfer at 8:00 pm!
