Death metal band Job For A Cowboy have been raising musical havoc since 2003 and this month the band will be releasing their album Moon Healer. What is enjoyable about the album is how each track is filled with killer instrumentation and phenomenal vocal performances. Moon Healer shows how much Job For A Cowboy have grown as a band, the music capturing what death sounds like.
Kicking things off is “Beyond the Chemical Doorway” and although this tune is four minutes long, Alan Glassman on lead guitar shakes the background with face smacking riffs. Glassman does a great job showing who he is as a guitarist, sure to cause some listeners heads to bang while the music is blaring from their speakers.
“Sun Gave Me Ashes So I Sought Out the Moon” is by far the best track on Moon Healer, the string instruments create a beautiful melodic vibe that blends with the earth shattering metal. The whole song gets better when Glassman performs an ear bleeding guitar solo that contributes to the theme.
“Into the Crystalline Crypts” is a rather interesting composition, the instrumentation brings a heavy prog metal vibe. The best part is hearing Nick Schendzielos and his bass guitar fill the air with deep vibrating riffs that contribute to the chaos on this composition. This track proves Job For A Cowboy are not afraid to be creative with their music.
“The Agony Seeping Storm” is a tune that has lyrics some people can relate to. The words “I find myself infectiously waiting for a glimpse at the dismal sun / But instead, possessed is my shadow from the moonlight as the night begun” talks about how some people are continuously looking for light inside their darkness, but the lingering darkness keeps showing up in their lives. It is a sad but well written song that can resemble what life is like for some people.
Job For A Cowboy have a home run with Moon Healer, the music brings the heavy sounds of what death metal should sound like and surely the band will be blowing people’s minds with their top notch taste in music.
