Following the release of their seventh studio album, People Who Aren’t There Anymore, Future Islands will embark on their 2024 tour this May. The 44-date tour will take the band across Europe, Canada, and the U.S. with a stop in Austin, TX, on September 26th. While in Austin, the band will take the stage at ACL Live at The Moody Theater at 8 p.m.
Future Islands, a synth-pop group formed in North Carolina in 2006, consists of Sam Herring, Gerrit Welmers, William Cashion, and Michael Lowry. Their breakthrough came in 2014 after performing their single, “Seasons (Waiting on You)” on The David Letterman show. The performance catapulted the band into virality and the song ended up being named the best song of 2014 by Pitchfork and NME. Since then, their perfected new-wave sound and energetic live shows have garnered ongoing mainstream recognition.
