Album Review: Domination Campaign – A Storm of Steel

Mind dazzling album

Australian death metal band Domination Campaign has been causing havoc since the release of Onward To Glory, and now the band has dropped their second album A Storm of Steel. Each track features chaotic, face smacking instrumentation and powerful vocals that can cause some listeners to head bang along. A Storm of Steel captures the essence of what classic death metal sounds like.

“Time To Die” kicks things off with a bang thanks to righteous drum playing from Joe Haley. While listening, each drum beat brings a sense of immediate danger due to how fast Haley hits the drum heads. Also, the faster each drum beat is, the crazier things get. Haley is a talented drummer and his love for music can be felt through each drum beat.

“D-Day” is another vein jolting composition that shows how talented Jason Peppiatt is as a vocalist. Each vocal pitch brings a sense of threat in the lingering darkness, and the vocalist is just as scary while yelling out the lyrics in pure passion. “D-Day” is just another composition that proves death metal is not going away anytime soon.

“Pit of Disease” is a gnarly song that has heart stopping guitar riffs that match the evil theme. In the composition, ear bleeding guitar notes sizzle the air with great authority. The best part is hearing the bass guitar shaking the background with deep notes. In death metal, the guitar is the important part, each note creating the hard hitting vibe, and on “Pit of Disease,” both Haley and Peppiatt arranged guitar riffs that match the serious musical vibe.

“Death Landing” ends things with a banging instrumentation that brings ear bleeding music. As a whole, everything is fantastically executed, the instrumentation creates a darker atmosphere that brings an aspect of the closeness of death. Also, the vocal performance is amazing, Peppiatt’s vocals contributing to the horror that is constantly lingering around on “Death Landing.”

A Storm of Steel brings back the old school death metal vibe that consists of hard hitting instrumentation and a killer vocal performance. Although this is their second album, Domination Campaign has a bright future in the music industry.
