American rock bands, Primus, Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle are teaming up for a North American Tour in celebration of A Perfect Circle’s vocalist, Maynard James Keenan’s 60th birthday in an event titled, SESSANTA! The trio of bands will be making a stop in Berkeley at The Greek Theatre on April 21.

Maynard James Keenan is the lead vocalist for both A Perfect Circle and Tool. He, along with guitarist Billy Howerdel, formed A Perfect Circle in 1999. Together, the duo, a long with a rotating group of other musicians, have put out four studio albums during the band’s existence. The group’s music has been heralded as incredibly influential towards the current landscape of modern rock. By blending elements of alt-metal and art rock, A Perfect Circle has created a unique sound for two well-established musicians.

Primus is a California based alt-metal band that formed in 1984. They are lead vocalist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonde, and drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander. The group released six studio albums during their initial run as a band before taking a hiatus in 2000. After reforming in 2003, they have been active since and have put out three albums while touring consistently. Their music is known for having elements of funk metal with an experimental edge.

Puscifer is another project of Maynard James Keenan that has been around since 2007. Along with Keenan, the group includes two other permanent members, Carina Round and Mat Mitchell, both of whom are multi-instrumentalists. The band has put out four studio albums and numerous live albums. They are known for their improvisational style and mixed-media output.
