Black Flag at Come And Take It Live on March 24

Hardcore punk band, Black Flag, will be coming to Austin, TX, on March 24th to play the entirety of their influential sophomore album, My War, to celebrate the record’s 40th anniversary. The tour, called the My War Tour, will have each concert split into two sets, beginning with a full run-through of their 1984 album, and ending with a second set featuring the band’s greatest hits—with songs mostly from their records Nervous Breakdown and Damaged. Fans can catch Black Flag’s performance in Austin at Come and Take It Live at 7 p.m.

After almost five decades active, Black Flag has become, and remained, a well-respected band within the punk subculture. The band, considered one of the pioneers of post-hardcore punk, was formed in 1976 by guitarist Greg Ginn. During the course of the band’s evolution, the band experienced many line-up changes; however, with Ginn as the primary songwriter and sole continuous member of the group, the band has remained rooted in its nonconformist and do-it-yourself punk spirit. Through Black Flag’s complex songwriting choices, and its incorporation of stylistic elements from other genres such as heavy metal, jazz, and classical music—a feat not originally heard of in punk music—the band has unapologetically expanded what punk music could be, all while staying true to the genre. With 48 years of experience under their belt, the band will surely leave a lasting impression after each concert on tour.
