Album Review: The Lives Of Famous Men – Greener Pasture Blues

Sheets of positivity intertwined with hard-hitting emotion

Greener Pasture Blues is a unified, nostalgic project. This album is cohesive in the sense that it entertains a distinct sound present on each track, almost gluing the whole album together with an overarching finish of easygoing, feel-good American rock. Honestly, this album is just about as pure as a genre like rock could get, with staggering positivity seeping throughout each track.

Greener Pasture Blues has a family-friendly, home for the holidays sense of glimmer to it, reminiscent of the past. Simplicity is key within this album, apparent throughout each piece in which frontman Daniel Hall croons out to an audience of love.

Despite the family friendly tendencies of this project, Greener Pasture Blues is still hip. It can relate to partygoers and diaper-changers alike in the concepts that it tackles. While rowdy youth and quiet parents have little in common, they both rest on the wavelength of love. Experiences, mistakes, and success all reside here, the wavelength which is the human’s ability to love. With this being said, Greener Pasture Blues relates to everyone while still being a family-friendly album. It is soft and traditional on the outside, yet plays upon some of the most powerful concepts humans can experience.

“Darling Come Home” is a perfect example of the sharp heartache or unconditional love one may find themselves mixed up in at a certain moment in time. This track is extremely catchy as well, as it has a slightly similar delivery to The Beatles. This feels like an end of the movie track, akin to the quickly approaching credits. The chorus is hard hitting, with backup vocals encouraging the audience to sing along. While most other tracks on this project have a deeper surface level positivity,”Darling Come Home” sticks out the most with its melancholy, emotive transportation through musical arrangements. The instrumentation is minimalistic, along with the rest of the album, but this heavily works in favor for the band, especially through the simple, yet deep messages they express throughout the project. Overall, Greener Pasture Blues is just as special as the deep emotions presented throughout it, an eye-watering glimpse of love.
