Interpol at Beacon Theatre on Dec. 13 & 14

Interpol is an American rock band from New York, New York, formed in 1997. Their original line-up consisted of Paul Banks (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Daniel Kessler (lead guitar, backing vocals), Carlos Dengler (bass guitar, keyboards), and Greg Drudy (drums). Durdy left in 2000 and was replaced by Sam Fogarino, as well as Dengler who left in 2010 to explore new projects. Banks took on his role of bassist instead of hiring a new member.

Interpol is very linked with the New York indie music scene and they are one of several bands to have emerged from the post-punk revival of the 2000s. Their sound has been described as a mix of staccato bass and rhythmic, harmonized guitar with a snare-heavy mix. Comparisons between them and bands such as Joy Division, Television and the Chameleons, Echo & the Bunnymen, and Siouxsie and the Banshees have been made. Interpol has no main songwriter, rather each member contributes to the composition of their songs.

They are currently on tour and will be playing at the Beacon Theatre in New York, NY on December 13 & 14. Tickets are available on their website at https://www.interpolnyc.com/tour-dates.
