Ever evolving rock band, Osees, has announced a Fall 2024 tour that kicks off with a four night residency at The Chapel in their hometown of San Francisco from August 31-September 3.
Osees have gone by a number of different names over the years including The Ohsees, OCS, Orange County Sound, and Orinoka Crash Suite; a deliberate choice according to band leader, John Dwyer. Osees started out as a solo project for Dwyer in 1997 while he played in a number of other bands in the San Francisco area.
Osees’ lineup would eventually expand upon the release of the band’s fourth album, OCS 4: Get Stoved. The band has gone through dozens of name and lineup changes since its inception. Osees is currently band leader and multi-instrumentalist John Dwyer, bassist Tim Hellman, drummer Dan Rincon, drummer Paul Quattrone, and keyboardist Tomas Dolas.
Along with a constantly evolving roster of band personnel, Osees’ sound has shifted drastically over the years. They began playing in the freak folk style which blends acoustic folk with psychedelic instrumentation. In 2007, the band switched to a more recognizable garage rock sound, producing their biggest track, “The Dream”, during that era.
In 2013, Dwyer relocated to Los Angeles and began to develop a garage punk sound that was solidified by finally pinning down the band’s current lineup. Change is engrained into Osees ideology as a band, and their constant shift in name, sound, and lineup is evidence of that.
