Brooklyn based electronic duo, Tanlines, has announced a set of California tour dates in support of their new album, The Big Mess. The tour includes a stop in San Francisco at Cafe Du Nord on February 2.
Tanlines is percussionist Jesse Cohen and guitarist and vocalist Eric Emm. They formed in 2008 after the duo worked together producing a song for Cohen’s band, Professor Murder. Both experienced musicians, the newly formed Tanlines opened for The Strokes frontman, Julian Casablancas, multiples times in 2009.
After a releasing a number of remixes for other acts and a joint EP with Salem entitled S.A.W. in early 2010, Tanlines released their first EP of original work, Settings, in March 2010.
Tanlines released their debut album, Mixed Emotions, on March 20, 2012. It peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and number 8 on the Dance/Electronic chart. The duo’s biggest track, All of Me, was named Rolling Stone’s number 43 best song of the year in 2012.
Their second album, Highlights, was released on May 18, 2015. The band remained quiet in the years after the release of their sophomore LP, but releases and EP entitled, Presents, in 2018.
After eight years, Tanlines released the third album, The Big Mess, on May 19 via Merge Records. The band has promised a series of tour dates next year, but have thus far only announced three dates in California.
